Consignment Sale

I haven't posted anything to the family blog in a week due to preparing for & working the MOPS Consignment Sale. Our group, Mothers of Preschoolers, puts on two major consignment sales per year. This fall, I joined the committee to run set-up and logistics.

The sale was a huge success. I'd like to think that my new floor-plan had something to do with the $14,000 in sales over spring's record dollars! It was a busy week. I haven't worked 14 hours days since my time at McMaster-Carr! (Okay - I work 24 hour days now -- I mean 14 hours out of the house and without kids!). This is not all profit; consignors get 70% of the sale, MOPS covers our expenses, and the rest goes to charities in Macon and Middle Georgia.
I'm really pleased. The whole committee did a great job. I can't wait for the next sale in March!

Go Bears!

Will is serving on the Dean search committee to identify and recommend the next Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. Yesterday was his first of two Saturdays in Atlanta to conduct interviews. Meanwhile, the boys and I enjoyed two back-to-back birthday parties, followed by the last Mercer Bears Basketball home game.

Record Sales & Special Thanks

Thanks to everyone on the committee (above), the workers, the consignors, and the shoppers.... we brought in over $92,000 this sale! This total is amazing when you consider that the sale only runs for 4 hours on Thurs, 10 hours on Fri, and 5 hours on Saturday! That is about $4800 per hour; not too shabby. Seventy percent of that will be returned to the consignors. Then we cover our sale costs, fund the Macon MOPS programming, and donate the balance to charity.

What a week! I could not have done it without the help of Nana and Gramps, who have been here for ten days taking care of the boys. We are going to miss them so much when they leave. Thanks, Susan and Dan, for everything you've done for our family this week!

Consignment Sale Update

The MOPS consignment sale has consumed my life for the last month, and we are still a month before the sale! Work-shift and consignor appointments opened to the public today and it is getting really exciting! Our ads should start showing up around middle Georgia soon. Watch for them in Georgia Family Magazine, Around Town Magazine, on a billboard on Forsyth Rd, in The Telegraph on Sept 10th, on WMAZ news on the 10th, etc etc etc. What fun, but what a lot of work! The committee is great and I think we will have a lot of fun the week of the sale! In the meantime, I will keep hoping that someone will offer me a salary for this Chair-woman work.... ha!
