Thanksgiving!

The prius was full of goodies!
Deer Snare!

Evan took this picture of me and Alex.
Wonder where he gets the camera bug? :)

Thumbs up from Evan. He did a great job of eating everything on his plate this year!

The annual Gramie, Bapa, Evan and Alex picture. Yay!

It was a wonderful Thanksgiving week/weekend with my folks, sister, and brother-in-law. The eight of us enjoyed food, more food, shopping, relaxing, Wii game playing, and more food. :)

A million thanks to Mom & Dad and to Emmy & Christian! We miss you already. xoxo

Davy Fwockett

In class yesterday, Alex volunteered to sing his version of the Davy Crockett song (see below). The teachers liked it so well they took him next door to another 3K class to sing it again. Today all three 3K classes were in the gym together and he performed for everyone! What a ham. No stage fright in this family!

At school pick-up today, he was at it again. This time, he was singing to a small group of friends while standing next to a new classroom tee pee. When he got to the "Davy Crockett" part, all the kids joined in. It was hilarious. His teacher told me that when all else fails, Alex is always ready with a song. (Of course, the movies are less than PC, but for now, the song is cute.)

"Homework"

After school, Evan tells us about the note or picture he drew that day for a girl in his class (each day, a new girl). He likes to slip a note into the lucky girl's backpack after "work" time. That's my Romeo! One of his little friends made a picture for him today and I gather that Evan was less than appreciative. We had a long talk about appreciating all gifts. For his "homework," Evan wanted to write a note to his classmate. Here it is -- perhaps the longest note he has written:

He also wanted to make a project "for the class," so this is what we wrote.:

And for the little girl who sits next to him at his table, a portrait of her and a balloon:

Last but not least, Thanksgiving Cards for his teachers.

Art and writing have never been of interest to Evan, so I'm glad to see that he is coming around.... better late than never!

The Nutcracker

I just ordered tickets for a date night with Evan. He and his mommy are going to see the Nutcracker in December! I'm so excited! Evan will be, too. Earlier tonight, I was dancing around the house and he asked, "Mommy, is that jazz or ballet?" I'm so out of shape, it was neither... but I smiled and told him it was modern.

Alex's School Pic

We missed Alex's school picture this year when we were in FL. The local photographer who takes the pictures graciously offered to do a make-up session in his studio. Here are the pics.

Presents

The scene: in the family van, headed to meet Will for dinner. It is raining and dark.

Ani: Lets play the thankful game. Alex, what are you thankful for?

Alex: I thank you for fake dinosaurs... itty-bitty dinosaurs. The little ones. I don't know where they are. I thank you for them.

Ani: Evan, what are you thankful for?

Evan: I'm thankful for all the people in the whole world.

Ani: Alex, what else are you thankful for?

Alex: I thank you for a sunny day.

Ani: Anything else?

Alex: I thank you for a wonderful God.

Evan: If Santa hears you say that, you will get A LOT of presents, Alex.

Macon Soccer - final practice (Evan)

Evan & Coach Johnny (also Alex's coach, but Alex didn't want to be in the pic)

After a great soccer practice this evening, Evan ripped of his red Macon Soccer t-shirt, threw it over his shoulder and announced, "I'm sweaty!" Coach Johnny thought he was practicing "his celebration." Meanwhile, all the other kids and parents were bundled up in jackets and hats. After all, it was 57 degrees outside!

When we got to the car, Evan said, "My knees are tender. My foot is tender. And my other knee is broken!!" But he knew he did well. We are really proud of him. It has been a good (6 week) season! (pictured above: running through the tunnel at the end of practice!)

It's a hard knock life

Macon Soccer - final practice (Alex)

Alex's final practice was on Friday. He was feeling under the weather most of the week, but he perked up for his final few minutes of practice when the kids throw their balls in the air and run through the parent-tunnel. Meanwhile, Evan had a great time running around the entire soccer field perimeter. He must have run it 4 or 5 times!
